MENKE PARK RENOVATION

Making the Park accessible for everyone.

Menke Park Renovation

The Corte Madera Community Foundation (CMCF) has enjoyed a long and productive association with Menke Park. One of our first fundraising campaigns was to support the construction of Piccolo Pavilion in the late 1990’s. We have sponsored music for the community in Menke Park with our summer concert series for almost twenty years.

Over time, we have seen that Menke Park is increasingly used by the public for all types of recreation. We also see that the park is not as accessible as it could be – we believe it’s time to make a few improvements and to make the park more accessible to all members of our community.

The CMCF is working in partnership with local landscape architect Sara Cohen and the Town of Corte Madera's Engineering Department to create a renovation plan that is relatively simple and that incorporates up-to-date ADA access while honoring the charm, existing topography, and infrastructure of our beloved park.

This renovation will establish safety and ADA access as top priorities, creating new stairs and ADA compliant pathways with gradients to make access easier for anyone with limited mobility.

It also places emphasis on landscape design and retains greenery throughout the park. Unhealthy and non-native trees will be edited from the garden while preserving Heritage Trees and adding California Natives that will thrive for decades, providing shade and aesthetic beauty for people and a lush habitat for local pollinators, birds, and wildlife.

Thanks to the generosity of the members of our community, we have successfully raised funds for a variety of projects in Corte Madera for more than 30 years, including Town Park Plaza, the Community Center Patio, the Library Reading Garden, and the Ben Larson Memorial Fountain in Old Corte Madera Square. However, the renovation of Menke Park will be our most ambitious fundraising project to date – by far.

Please join us to help make this exciting project a success for our Town and contribute to our Menke Park renovation campaign today.
